Skilled Operative

  • Location: Roots Production at Landscove, TQ13 7LZ Reliable transportation is required to commute to Landscove - TQ13 7LZ, as it is not accessible by public transport routes.
  • Contract: 39 hours a week Monday - Thursday 07:00-15:30 – Friday 07:00 - 14:30

What you’ll be doing…

We take a lot of pride in delivering great looking and tasting veg boxes and recipe boxes to our customers. We will be providing the raw root products that will go into these boxes, working on the wet grading line or the dry grading line. Based at Roots Production in Landscove and be part of existing team of co-owners working with root products.

Roots Grading Team

Sorting through various root crops (potatoes, carrots, onions, parsnips, beetroot, swede, and Jerusalem artichokes) and assess the quality and size of the crop throughout the year and ensuring we provide a continued supply of high-quality produce to our pack house. The Roots team is based on an agricultural site over two barns, the conditions can be cold in winter and warm in the summer, correct PPE will be provided, you do need to be in comfortable working in cold and warm conditions as well as being on your feet for long periods of time. 

In either role you will use your initiative and attention to detail to make sure that you are only grading the very best produce for our packing teams at our Wash site. You may be asked to help in other departments, or muck in and help with keeping the production area clean and tidy, so you will need to be generally enthusiastic and keen to work as part of a team to get the job done.

Skills & experience

  • Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a production or warehousing environment
  • Must be comfortable working in a cold & hot environment, with long periods of time on your feet 
  • You must be able to lift and manoeuvre crates of produce and veg boxes
  • You should have good communication skills and be able to speak and understand English to a level that enables you to comprehend instructions and the daily requirements of the role
  • Accurate and efficient
